Here is a list of cheap activities to do in Oahu Hawaii. Lots of activities that won't break your pocketbook and are still great fun!



1. Swim in the ocean. There are lots of great swimming spots on Oahu besides Waikiki beach.

2. Drive to The Pali Lookout
The historical cliff where King Kamehameha defeated his opposition. One of the best views on Oahu.

3. Hike through a rainforest. Join one of the guided tours that takes you on a walk thru a rainforest - at the end of the hike is the longest waterfall in Oahu. Be sure to wear shoes to hike in and it is damp and muddy on the trail.

4. Visit the Dole Pineapple Plantation - get lost in the World's Largest Maze (199 Guinness Book of World Records). The Pineapple Garden Maze is 1.7 miles of winding paths bordered by Hawaiian plants, trees and flowers. Also available is a Plantation Garden Tour and Pineapple Express train tour.

5. Visit Kailua Beach Park on the southeast shore. It's a popular destination for kayakers and windsurfers.

6. Pick up a hiking trail map at the orientation center to explore Kahana Valley State Park, the only state-owned land left intact from prehistoric times.

7. Take a trip to the Byodo-In Temple in the Valley of the Temples in O'ahu. This Buddhist temple is a replica of the 900 year old Byodo-In located in Japan.

8. Visit the Honolulu Zoo. See Hawaii's native birds and animals in this 42 acre zoo. Even Komodo dragons.

. Waikiki Beach Walk - Walk from one end of Waikiki beach to the other in the sand. It's not too long of a walk, but lots to see!

. Hike up Diamond Head for the best view in Oahu. The hike averages about 2 hours - can be done in a hour and 1/2 if you hike fast and it isn't crowded. First thing in the morning is the best time for the hike.

11. Visit Historic Honolulu - stroll downtown to 18 sites fo interest including the only royal palace in the U.S.

12. Visit Chinaman's Hat
This is one of Oahu's offshore islands that can be reached on foot at low tide.

13. Bike Oahu from the Rainforest to the Reef. Oahu has miles of paved bike routes and trails.

14. Round Top Drive
9 mile scenic drive with spectacular views of Honolulu and Waikiki.

15. Visit the North Shore area of Oahu. The North Shore is known for it's huge waves in the winter by world class surfers! The 3 best known large wave beaches are Sunset Beach, Pipeline and Waimea Bay.

16. Manoa Falls, Honolulu
About a 1 hour hike to reach this 100 feet waterfall, but worth the trip.

17. Visit Chinatown, Honolulu - tons of restaurants, shops and markets to explore.

18. Makapu'u Point on Oahu - Good spot for whale watching from December thru April. Rest of the year it's a nice scenic view overlooking Makapuu Peninsula.

19. Puuomahuka Heiau, Oahu
This ancient temple on Oahu is situated above Waimea Bay and offers a stunning view of the large breakers.

20. Maunawili Trail, Honolulu
This trail makes an easy meandering hike through a forest on the lower slopes of the Koolau Range. Begin from the Pali Highway side and hike about an hour in and then turn back. This is a moderate hike.

21. Snorkel -
snorkel in the clear tropical water near famous Waimea Bay.

22. Go on a hiking adventure with a guide to Diamond Head Crater, discover hidden waterfalls, or take a North Shore adventure.
